Water on Earth is important and we
need to make sure it stays safe to use
and is accessable .

There is a limited water supple because
97% of Earth’s water is salt water.
Saying that, you cannot drink it because
it causes dehydration and it is not
suitable for watering crops. However,
water can be processed to make it
suitable to drink but it is very costly.
*Much of the water is replaced
due to the water cycle.*
Water shortages are caused by
water being used faster than the water
cycle can replace it.
These shortages can cause droughts
which disables the use of water and
can lead to bad crops.
Water pollution
is caused by pollutants in the water.
Some are iron and copper which makes water
unpleasant to drink or bath in. Others can cause
death.
Filtered water is the best water you should drink
and you should always make sure it is safe.
Sewage
• Sewage is human wastes that is flushed
down sinks and toilets that cause water
pollution.
• Even treated sludge can pollute. With
bacteria, water can be very dangerous or
even deadly to people who drink it.
Agricultural waste
• Animal wastes and farm chemicals
chemicals are also sources of pollution.
• Fertilizers- chemicals to provide nutrients
for plants to grow.
• Pesticides- chemicals to kill bugs that eat
or kill crops.
• These chemicals cause pollution.
Oil and Gasoline
• Oil spills are the most dangerous and
dramatic type of water pollution.
• Oil spills take long to recover and can kill
many organisms in the water.
• There hasn’t been a serious oil spill for
years which is a very good thing for our
enviorment.
Factories
• Chemical plants, paper and textile mill and
factories that use metals produce waste
that can pollute water.
• Humans that drink this water are now
exposed to many of these dangerous
chemicals and pollutants.
