Learning lines and shapes is one of
the basic concepts everyone on
earth should know.
LINES
VERTICAL LINES
Vertical Lines are
straight lines that
goes up to down.
We see Vertical lines
everywhere.
HORIZONTAL LINES

Horizontal lines are
straight lines that
goes left-to-right.
DIAGONAL LINES
Diagonal lines are also
called slanting lines.
These are straight lines
that are slanting or
inclined in direction.
We also see diagonal lines
around us.
CURVE LINES
Curve lines are lines
that are somewhat
bent.
CURLY LINES
Curly lines are
curved lines with
many loops and
bends.
ZIGZAG LINES
Zigzag lines are
diagonal lines
joined together.
When we combine lines, we form other figures.
These figures are called
Shapes
SHAPES
 Shapes

are lines joined together!
There are different kinds of shapes. The basic
shapes are SQUARE, CIRCLE, RECTANGLE,
OBLONG, STAR, DIAMOND, TRIANGLE
and HEART.
SQUARE



A square is a figure
having 4 EQUAL sides.
A square is a figure
where 4 straight lines are
joined together.
There are many objects
having a square shape all
around us!
Square
A square is made up
of four straight lines
with equal length.
Two vertical lines
And two horizontal lines.
CIRCLE

A circle is a closed figure
with no sides.

There are many things
with a circle shape
around us!
RECTANGLE


A rectangle is a figure
with four sides. It has
two sides of equal length
opposite each other and
two other sides of equal
length opposite each
other.
We can find a lot of
things with a rectangular
shape around us!
Rectangle
Just like the square, a rectangle is a figure with four
straight lines joined together.
In the rectangle above, there are two short vertical lines
And two long horizontal lines.
OBLONG

An oblong is just like a
circle, but it is longer.

Just like the other shapes,
there are also many
objects that are shaped
oblong.
TRIANGLE



A triangle is a figure with
three sides.
There are two diagonal
lines in this triangle, and
one horizontal lines.
We see many triangular
shapes around us.
Triangle
A triangle is a figure
with three straight
lines joined together.
In this triangle,
There are two
diagonal lines
and one horizontal
line.
STAR


The star shape is named
“Star” because it has the
shape of the stars that
we see from the skies
during the night.
Click here to see how the
shape star is drawn.
Star
In this star,
five straight
lines are
joined
together to
form the
shape.
DIAMOND
The diamond is like a
square. It has four equal
sides.
 The lines joined together
to make a diamond are
diagonal lines.

Diamond
In the shape
called diamond,
four straight lines
are joined
together.
HEART

Lines and Shapes
Around Us
We see shapes everywhere. Whether
when we are in our homes, in our
schools, and in other places in the
community like the church, the
hospitals, the children’s park, in the city,
and even while driving as we travel.

In the church…
In the park…
In school…
In the city, as we travel…
When we put together lines
and shapes, we can make
artworks!
Every shape has a purpose. Every shape has a
place. Everything here on earth is a shape… a
figure.
Learning shapes is as important as the shapes being
“there”.
Learning shapes reminds us that just like us, every
shape is special and plays a special role. =)
