What is ARESTIN?
Arestin (Minocycline HCl 1 mg
microspheres) is a locally administered
antibiotic used for the treatment of chronic
periodontitis and is most effective when
accompanied by a scaling and root planing
procedure.

naturally absorbed into
gingival tissue.
New Microsphere
Technology- allows slow
release of antibiotics over a
21 day period.

Lowers the amount of
bacteria reducing
inflammation and pocket
depths.
Treatment easily applied
into periodontal pocket
and does not require
removal.
Particularly effective for
smokers.
WARNINGS
Arestin contains Minocycline which is a
tetracycline and should NOT be used in the
following cases:
Allergic Reaction to Minocycline
Pregnancy/Breast Feeding
Children under age 8- Staining
Using Other Medications
Side Effects of ARESTIN
Sensitivity to the Sun
Stay out of direct sunlight
Although UNCOMMON, contact a your Dentist for
the following side effects:
Bleeding from gums.
Chills, fever, pain and redness.
Tooth ache and swelling the mouth
Redness and swelling of the gums.
Proper Use AFTER Treatment
Do NOT chew hard, crunchy, or sticky foods for
1 week after treatment.
Do NOT brush near any treated areas. Wait 12
hours after the procedure before brushing the
other teeth.
Do NOT floss or use interproximal aids for 10
days after treatment.
Do NOT probe at the treated areas with your
tongue, or a toothpick.
