What do you know?
1. What is cancer?
Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal
cells.
2. What causes cancer?
Somehow genes are damaged through
exposure to a carcinogen (cancer causing
agent) or “damaged” by heredity.(EX. Breast
ovarian, prostate, colon, kidney, eye, skin and more)

Tumors
D. What are benign and malignant tumors?
• Benign: non-cancerous, localizes, slow
growing tumors (clumps of cells)
• Malignant: cancerous, spreading tumors
What does metastasis mean?
When a tumor breaks away from the primary
site to another part of the body.
Cancer of these organs have the lowest cure rate.
(Pancreas, stomach, brain, skin)
What are the warning signs of cancer?
1. Change in bowel or bladder habit
2. A sore that does not heal
3. Unusual bleeding or discharge ( Ear, nose,
lungs, rectum, vagina, bladder)
4. Thickening or lump in breast or elsewhere
5. Indigestion or difficulty swallowing
6. Obvious change in wart or mole
7. Nagging cough or hoarseness

What are the different types of skin

nodules or rough patches

Do you know your ABCDEs?
Asymmetry: Normal moles or freckles are completely
symmetrical. If you were to draw a line through a
normal spot, you would have two symmetrical
halves.
Border: A mole or spot with blurry and/or jagged edges
Color: A mole that is more than one hue is suspicious
and needs to be evaluated by a doctor. Normal spots
are usually one color. This can include lightening or
darkening of the mole.
Diameter: If it is larger than a pencil eraser (about 1/4
inch or 6mm), it needs to be examined by a doctor.
Emerging/ Evolving: if the mole has changed or is
elevated

What is testicular cancer?
Testicular cancer is cancer that starts in the testicles
located in the scrotum .
Testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer in
men between the ages of 15 and 35
