We live in a beautiful world
14 billion years ago, give or take a few billion,
something happened which triggered the
beginning of our universe…
and eventually led to the creation of our beautiful earth
And we are made of the dust of long-dead
Or…
stars – We are literally star dust
Or God made the universe, the world and
everything within the space of 6 days, giving
himself a day of rest on the seventh.
Whatever you believe or think you know, it is
generally accepted that, so far as we know,
this is the only one that sustains life
It is a planet teaming with diverse life forms, in our seas
In our skies
On the land
Christians believe it was made for
us to enjoy but also to look after
That being made in ‘God’s Image’,
means being made to create, to
nurture, to look after and to sustain
Give us hearts to understand
Never to take from creation’s beauty more than we can give
Never to take from her what we cannot use
Give us hearts to understand
That to destroy earth’s music is to create confusion
That to wreck her appearance is to blind
Us to beauty
And forgive us for forgetting who we are
For seeking our own security
For abusing our power
Help us to go forward in your strength and wisdom
And to walk in your beauty
