Background
• www.Carleton.ca serves 40 million web pages a year
• The website is Carleton’s first impression on prospective
students and faculty
• Currency and accuracy of these pages impact Carleton’s
credibility and reputation
• Currently departmental websites are developed &
maintained on ad hoc basis

• Disjointed “look and feel” across www.carleton.ca
which may or may not convey Carleton’s brand
• Inconsistent navigation & terminology
• Difficulty searching

• Departments use expensive software with no training

Carleton CMS is a University decision, initiated by the ISSC, aimed at:

Separating content from presentation to achieve a
consistent look and feel across University sites

Delivering a cutting edge product complete with RSS
feeds, event calendar option, analytics, search function, forms
to email feature, video integration, and more
•
Delivering a complete service offering which includes
website consultation, migration of existing content, and
ongoing support
•
Providing a web interface for content input at no cost to
clients
