What is a web browser?
A web browser is the software that lets you
look at information on the world wide web.
Examples:
Microsoft Explorer
Netscape Navigator
Mozilla
Opera
Uniform Resource Locator (URL)
The URL identifies the computer,
directory and file where an item is
located and the type of protocol needed
to read that item.
.com commercial entity (well, usually...)
.edu educational institution (US only)
.gov federal government (US only)
.org non-profit organization
.net network provider
.mil military

specified data from their database(s). They use combinations of
keywords to retrieve the information.
Meta-Search Engines

Directories
Directories are categorized listings of topics most frequently searched
on the Internet such as News, Weather, Entertainment, Sports, etc.
Subject Guides
Subject guides are lists of resources also organized by catagories but
usually more focused and created by someone with knowledge in the
area.
