Before adding content, activities on new side
blocks, you must click the Turn Editing On button.
You will know it is ON if new icons appear on the
page.
All of these may not appear on every Moodle site. Your administrator may have chosen to add or delete block choices.
Notice you can assign roles, hide, or delete block.
Switch role to Student and see the view
your students see.
Be sure to click Return to Normal Role
AND Turn Editing On before trying to
make any changes.
On the calendar block, click on the name of the
Month where you want to add an event.
When the box below appears, click New Event.
User event– event unique to user only.
Course event – event to be seen by course
participants only.
Site event – created by administrators only and
will not show up unless the login user is an
administrator.
Choose one of
the above.
Group event – if class is divided into groups, this
will show up and a group event is only seen by
the designated group.
Complete the information
and save changes. The
event will then appear on
your course calendar.
Remember that adding a
resource means it is
information that you are
providing your students.

Use the dropdown arrow and
choose New Window.

Turn Editing On then choose
“Compose a web page.”
Retrieve the “embed code” from your
internet video. Example shown here is
from a YouTube video.
1. Give the resource a title.
3. Then click the Toggle Switch. Click “enter” a couple of times to
create space between the instructions and the video code.
4. Finally, paste the “embed code” under the instructions.
You have a variety of
activities from which to
choose. These involve some
type of assignment or
interaction for the students.




Advanced uploading of files – use for
turning in multiple files as an assignment.
Online Text – allows student to submit
editable texts using the normal editing
tools.
Upload a Single File – allows student to
upload a single file of any type.
Offline activity – used when an assignment
is performed outside of Moodle such as
somewhere else on the web or face-to-face.
Be sure to add instructions for students here.
This is where student’s will upload their assignment.
In the top right corner, the teacher can see how
many assignments have been submitted.

Type the question here.
List several choices.
View that students see. They choose one and click Save My Choice.
Give the forum a name, then
choose what type forum.
Type the forum question.

Students click on “add new
discussion topic” and share
their thoughts.

After creating a Glossary shell, click “Add an Entry.”
Type word you are defining and the
definition. Save changes.
Once definitions are entered, click on the letter and the
definitions for that letter will appear.
