How did the use of “petites Curies”
contribute to the expansion of X-rays
after World War 1?
With the mobile x ray facilities that Marie
Curie created, known as “petites Curies”, it
further generated more advanced mobile
help in later Wars such as in WW2.
 Radiography had developed as a profession
 U.S. radiologists were assigned to each
mobile hospital unit
 Work would consist of causalities, foreign
body localization, and radiotherapy for
infections


Too much radon exposure can increase the
risk of lung cancer
 It is found that in epidemiological studies
on thousands of uranium miners, that
breathing in the radon can initiate cancer
(alpha particles would damage the cells
lining the airways)

