DAUGHTER ELEMENTS
By: Jenny, Aaron, Surafel, and Mayson
Question 1 pg.126
How did the use of “petites Curies”
contribute to the expansion of X-rays
after World War 1?
With the mobile x ray facilities that Marie
Curie created, known as “petites Curies”, it
further generated more advanced mobile
help in later Wars such as in WW2.
Radiography had developed as a profession
U.S. radiologists were assigned to each
mobile hospital unit
Work would consist of causalities, foreign
body localization, and radiotherapy for
infections

Landmarks.” AuntMinnieEurope. AuntMinnieEurope, n.d. Web. 2 Feb.

Question 2 pg.172
Redniss refers to the Merry Widow
Health Mine as a radon spa that has
positively affected a wide range of the
visitor’s medical conditions . Do radon
spa’s also negatively affect people’s
health?
Too much radon exposure can increase the
risk of lung cancer
It is found that in epidemiological studies
on thousands of uranium miners, that
breathing in the radon can initiate cancer
(alpha particles would damage the cells
lining the airways)

Question 3 pg.172
Branching off from question
2, in Europe, how do they
see radon therapy as
opposed to the U.S.?

it a legitimate biomedical
treatment
