• Pieter Bruegel grew
up in Belgium
• He traveled to Italy
in 1552 to study
painting
• In 1553 he moved to
Antwerp and started
painting landscapes
resembling what
he’d seen in his
travels
• In his paintings he
depicted peasants
doing everyday
activities

The Project
• What games do you play when you go out
for recess?
• Draw & color yourself playing one of those
games or doing a play activity.
• Cut out the drawing of yourself playing.
We will take all of the drawings and glue
them onto a background to make our own
version of Bruegel’s Children’s Games
painting.
