Michelangelo
Michelangelo di Lodovico
Buonarroti Simoni (6 March 1475
–18 February 1564), known
as Michelangelo, was an Italian
Renaissance painter, sculptor,
architect, poet, and engineer.
Considered one of the biggest
artists of the history both for his
sculptures and for his paintings
and architectural work.
His sculpture
Michael Angelo was using a quality, named
terribilità, to which we can assume the greatness of
his genius; it refers to aspects as physical vigor, the
emotional intensity and the creative enthusiasm. In
Rome it realized two sculptures: the Baccus and
Saint Peter’s Pietà which had great beauty and the
finished impeccable one.
One of his sculptures
mas importantly was
the David, the nake
young person of four
meters of height that
it represents perfect
beauty and it
synthesizes the
values of the
Renaissance
humanism.
Other one of his more famous
sculptures is the Moses. It is a
sculpture of marble for the
tomb of the dad Julio II in
San's Pedro Basilica. The
statue is represented by horns
in his head that means " beams
of light “. Moses is sat, with
the Tables of the Law under
the arm, and with another
hand caresses the curls of his
beard.
His architecture
Michelangelo designed
Capitoline Hill to crown
the Capitol, the smallest of
seven hills of the Ancient
Rome. It is a geometrically
delineated square, with
three low and harmonious
buildings that act as
theatrical bottom. In the
center of the square one
finds the statue of the
emperor Marco Aurelio. It
is the first planned square
of Rome.
Saint Peter's Basilica.
It is a catholic temple
placed in the Vatican City.
The basilica possesses the
major interior space of a
Christian church in the
world. It is considered to
be one of the most sacred
places of the catholicism.
The basilica is the place of
San's Pedro burial, which
was one of twelve apostles
of Jesus of Nazareth. In
this church there is
celebrated the majority of
the papal ceremonies.
His Painting
Adam's creation.
It is a fresh in the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. It represents the
Biblical episode of the Genesis in which God gives life to Adam. It is
one of the works of art more valued and recognized in the world. His
left arm is about a feminine figure normally interpreted as Eve. The
God's right arm is stuck-up, for to give the spark of life of his own
finger to that of Adam.
The Last Judgment
It is a mural realized in fresco to
decorate the apse of the Sistine
Chapel. The wall of the altar
where now the Final Judgment
is was containing other murals
of the series of the stories of
Moses and Jesus. More above
the first three Popes were, where
Saint Peter was. In the low half
of the fresco, the multitudes are
divided in two: those who are
ascending to Heaven on the left
side and those who descend to
the glooms on the right side.
