Warm-up 12/4/14
• Skim through Chapter 30. Which of the 10
figures do you think is the most famous? Why
do you think they are more famous than the
others?
Step 1: Read about and take notes on your figure. Read the
section of Chapter 30 in History Alive! The Medieval World and
Beyond about your figure, and complete Reading Notes 30 for
that section.
Step 2: Brainstorm ideas for illustrations. You must create
six symbols or illustrations for your pedestal that represent key
aspects of your figure’s life, talents, and achievements. Include
at least one symbol or illustration about each of these topics:
• where your figure was from
• your figure’s personality
• what your figure studied
• your figure’s talents
• your figure’s achievements
With your group, decide what the six symbols or illustrations will
be.
Step 3: Draw your illustrations. Have each group member draw
and color two of the illustrations. They should be large enough for
people to see at a distance.
