Transcript WHERE`S WALLY? * HOW TO FIND NSP*S AND LEGAL

The Australian Injecting and Illicit Drug Users League (AIVL) is the
national peak organisation for state and territory peer based drug user
organisations and represents issues of national significance for people
who use or have used illicit drugs.
AIVL’s mission is ‘to promote and protect the health and human rights
of people who use or have used illicit drugs’.
AIVL Believes all human beings have the right to ‘choose’ to use drugs
AIVL is run “by users for user” with the majority of staff/Board having
direct experience of illicit drug use
ᴥ The ever increasing access to the internet, and
smart phones, iPad/iPhone etc.
ᴥ No consolidated database existed in Australia
ᴥ Repeated requests such as “Does AIVL know
an NSP in the back of Queensland?”
ᴥ Awareness that combining NSP, drug
related/HR and legal information was
attractive to users (all in one place)
• Monitoring it’s use
• Updating of service details – how and by
who?
• Updating legislative changes
• Adding Vending Machine locations
• Creating a Phone App
• Re-negotiate with NSW & SA Health Dept.'s
for adequate access to NSP info - what goods
an NSP if no-one can find it?
• Promotion of Guides by NSP’s – That’s you!!!
• Re-thinking traditional advertising
• Non- paper mediums, tins, pens, unique items
which will be kept
• Adverts in magazines read by users
