Land Reclamation Summer Research Assistants
Apply your soil, plant and environmental science knowledge and skills to land reclamation projects
across Alberta and the Northwest Territories. This is an ideal position to gain experience addressing real
reclamation issues and in research.

Description: Research Assistants will work with Dr. M. Anne Naeth and her research team. Successful
applicants will assist with field, greenhouse, growth chamber and/or laboratory work, including vegetation
assessments, soil sampling, plot establishment, amendment addition, seeding, weed control, data entry,
equipment maintenance and administrative tasks. Assistants will work on multiple projects.
Remuneration: Four month contract (May 5 to August 29) with a salary of $2200+/month. Travel and living
expenses are paid while in the field. Position requires frequent travel, often with short notice.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a positive attitude, be adaptable and able to work independently and
part of a team. Applicants must be able to undertake physically demanding work, be eligible to drive U of A
vehicles (www.uofaweb.ualberta.ca/driving), pass a drug test and criminal record check (industry requirements)
and be able to work long days in all types of weather. Plant identification skills and competency in Excel are
assets. Plant identification course will be provided.
