ALCOHOL
One of the worlds oldest drugs.
 Alcohol
is a drug, known as
ethanol.
 The chemical formula is
C2H5OH .
 Alcohol is produced by
fermenting fruit and/or grain.
 There
are different types of
beer which include:
 1. Ales 2. Lager 3. Light
 4. Stouts 5. Barely Wines.
BEERS
 Beer
has 4-8 % alcohol.
 One drink of beer consists of
12 oz. of that beverage.
 Light beer DOES NOT contain
less alcohol than other beers,
only fewer calories.

 PROOF
 Proof
was the method used
by moonshiners to “prove” to
their customers that there
was a minimum amount of
alcohol in the whiskey.
LIQUOR
 Proof
is the percentage of
alcohol x2.
 Most standard liquors are 80
proof ….. Which means they
have 40% alcohol.

 Alcohol
is expensive because
of a “luxury tax” placed on it
by the US Government.
 Denatured is pure, 200 proof
ethanol which is “poisoned”
so that it can’t be consumed,
making it less expensive.
Liquor Con’t
 One
drink of 80 proof liquor
is 1.5 oz. (often called a
“shot”). If the shot has a
stronger liquor (say, 100
proof) then you are having
more than one drink.

Types
of liquor include
whiskey (bourbon, Rye,
Scotch), Gin, Rum,
Vodka and Tequila.
