• You are the front line
• Young drivers = high risk drivers
• “I didn't know I would lose my license over
this”
• Knowledge = deterrence
– Example: MIPs
Common Violations
• Traffic offenses
– Speeding
– Cell phone
– No seatbelt
– No Operators License
– Careless Driving
– DUII
Common Violations
• Drug & alcohol offenses
– MIP
• Alcohol
• Marijuana
– Furnishing Alcohol to Minors
License Consequences
• Fail to appear (FTA) on a traffic offense = court
ordered license suspension
• Traffic offense conviction = DMV License
suspension
• MIP conviction = Mandatory court ordered
license suspension
– 1st conviction = 90 days
– 2nd (or subsequent) conviction = 1 year
License Consequences
• DUII = Court ordered license suspension and
ignition interlock device
• Driving While Suspended (DWS) conviction =
court ordered suspension of vehicle
registration
