Medical Toxicology Fellowship
The Section of Medical Toxicology in the University of Arizona
Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking applicants for its newly
approved two-year medical toxicology fellowship. Fellows will admit and
consult at University Physicians Healthcare Hospital (UPHH), a 125-bed
hospital and level I psychiatric facility with 45,000 annual ED visits. We
also consult at University Medical Center, a tertiary care hospital and the
only Level I trauma center in Southern Arizona. Outpatients will be
evaluated at the newly-established Toxic Exposures Clinic at UPHH.
Poison center experience is gained at the Arizona Poison and Drug
Information Center, on the Arizona Health Sciences Center campus.
Our medical toxicologists are active members of the Arizona Emergency
Medicine Research Center (AEMRC) and have held leadership positions in
multiple Medical Toxicology specialty societies. We have particular
expertise in envenomations, occupational exposures, hazardous
materials, and disaster preparedness.
The AEMRC is a Center of Excellence at University of Arizona and cosponsors the Advanced Hazmat Life Support Programâ„¢ with the
American Academy of Clinical Toxicology.
Start date is flexible between July 2011 – January 2012
