Health Share of Oregon
Building the Foundation
Looking to the Future
Lessons Learned
• Life studies reveal special populations with a heavy burden of
poverty, early trauma, stressed family relations, school failure,
drug use, job instability, and incarceration
• Dedicated and laser focused staff and teams with the skills to
engage and support these members, including peers, are
effective in promoting better outcomes and supporting a
more resilient individual
• Lack of capacity/access to substance use treatment is a critical
barrier in the health care system
• Lack of housing is a critical barrier in the community support
system
