CADET PROTECTION POLICY
The Cadet Perspective
Policy
• The Civil Air Patrol has “zero tolerance”
for all forms of child abuse and drug
abuse within the CAP program.
• The protection of CAP cadets is the
highest priority
• The best effort has been made to
eliminate both child abuse and drug
abuse from all CAP activities.
Types of Cadet Abuse
• Sexual
– Molestation, touching, contact,
exposure, suggestions
• Physical
– Assault, hitting, kicking,
pushing
• Hazing
Emotional
Mental
– Conduct whereby someone
causes another to suffer or to
be exposed to any activity that
is cruel, abusive, humiliating,
oppressive, demeaning, or
harmful.

• You have been inspected and your
shoes did not have a high shine. After
the inspection, your flight sergeant yells
at you and makes you do 50 push-ups.

Prevention
• Use good judgment and discretion when
selecting senior members, cadets, and other
persons to conduct or supervise cadet
activities
• Encourage at least two senior members to be
present at all cadet activities
• Provide parents with calendar of activities and
notification of changes
• Provide parents with opportunity to meet
senior members
