The Question:
How does oil affect the development of Southwest Asia?
Oil has affected Southwest Asia in many ways. Otherwise known as
“Black Gold”, oil has had both a positive and negative impact on the
development of the Middle East. The development of the Middle East
has been fairly positive due to the oil revenue generated from exports;
however, the wealth gain has not been evenly distributed among all
nations. For example, the United Arab Emirates has [gained more land
and doubled its coastline] (Document B). Sheik Muhammad has not
used the oil for war, but to administer housing, education, better
