David Mphelo, General Manager, MTN Business
• “There’s a saying that goes, if all you have is a
hammer, everything looks like a nail…or something
like that. The point is simple – to deal with change
and succeed in the face of the challenges ahead, you
have to have a toolbox full of solutions” Dave

Establish a culture and ecosystem for
innovation
• Collaborate using open innovation system beyond
the traditional technology organisation
• Partner with Private/ Public sector organisations to
innovate on specific business problems
• Incorporate SMME’s to innovate and come up with
prototypes and proof of concepts
• Drive enterprise wide agenda
Innovation and Growth
• Today’s data challenge is the same challenge that has
plague organizations for years. Data (and the analysis of
that data) is useless worthless until you actually use it.
• If you think of how change has come to our lives,
especially with the advent of social media, everything is
different. The organization and its people, however, are
struggling as to how to keep pace.
• Look at the extent of innovation in technology. Suppose
you had fell asleep five years ago and woke up now, you
won't know how to operate (things).
