e-Government initiatives & PSI
re-use


Why do e-Government initiatives lack
any references to PSU re-use?
EC documents include the issue of PSI
and it’ s re-use, but not as a part of
pure eGovernment agenda

eGovernment




Does eGovernment indeed deliver
increased efficiency in the public sector?
Does it increase satisfaction of citizens
and companies with public services?
Does it truly help to offer public services
for all?
Does it reduce the democratic deficit?

Challenges of our times






Demographic changes (aging population, immigration, pan
European mobility)
An enlarged Europe, challenges for institutional governance in new
countries and for cross-border integration;
eParticipation - citizen involvement and partnership, while the risk
of democratic deficit has seldom been greater, as well;
The future political agenda (continuation of Lisbon Agenda) to
maintain Europe’s model of combining a globally competitive market
economy with strong social solidarity;
Expectations on eGovernment take-up and future calls, on benefits
and results of the eGovernment policy agenda.Harmonisation of
Local and regional eGovernment agenda
New technologies that enable innovative public services and a new
division of roles between public and private sector. The EU’s goal is
to increase R&D investment to 3% of GDP by 2010.
