• Dubai started out with its industry in pearling.
Later, oil is discovered and the economy is
based mainly on oil.
• Dubai becomes popular after the Dubai
shopping festival and the Dubai World Cup are
launched. The Burj Al Arab opens and further
enhances Dubai’s reputation. From then on,
Dubai becomes more and more popular.

monument being a five star hotel. The
sail shaped building has a superb
interior décor , and was one of the
events that led to the massive
popularity of Dubai.
The Burj Al Arab symbolizes the
industrialization and modernization of
Dubai as its construction is one of the
biggest events leading to Dubai’s
popularity and income.
The World
“The World” are private and commercial islands artificially arranged to take the
appearance of the world. It is a big tourist spot because of its striking resemblance.
“The World” is still being built as of today.
“The World” is one of the projects that Dubai can afford with its high GDP.
Modernization is shown because Dubai has the time and resources to do such
expensive projects.

The city of Dubai has many restaurants to
offer, with each restaurant serving food from
different parts of the world. Most
restaurants are usually within the hotels ,
served with wine. The cuisine is usually with
the best ingredients and the restaurants are
famous for their food.
Restaurants are part of modernization because it
shows the multiple industries Dubai has. The
restaurants are part of the tourism industry, which is a
major part of Dubai’s economy.
Shopping
Dubai is known as the “shopping capital of
the Middle East”. Dubai has numerous
amounts of shopping centers where you can
get anything from jewelry to electronics and
sporting equipment.

activities are the prime
examples of modernization
because once a country’s
economy is solely based on
tertiary and quaternary
activities, it is considered
modern.
