Can Fast Food Be Healthy?
Write a paragraph explaining your opinion…
Review:
 Nutrition – process in which we take in and use food.
 Nutrient – Components of food that supplies us with
energy, serve as building material, help maintain or repair
body parts and support growth.
 Basic Nutrients: 1) Proteins, 2) Carbohydrates, 3) Fats,
4) Vitamins, 5) Minerals, and 6) Water
 Calorie - A unit used to measure the energy used by the
body, and the energy that food supplies the body.
Why Do We Need To Eat?
To supply your body with energy
To meet your nutritional needs
To satisfy our hunger
To satisfy our appetite
Hunger vs Appetite
 Hunger is a feeling of physical discomfort that is
caused by the body’s need for nutrients.
 Appetite is a desire for food that is based on emotions
and other factors rather than nutritional need.
Unlike hunger, which is an inborn response, appetite is
learned. (example: popcorn at the movies)
