Europe 2020 Strategy Revision
• Generally positive experience
• Need to ensure higher interconnection and
coherence of policies and targets
• Support of consistency of existing targets, more
emphasis on qualitative aspects of current targets
• Key challenge – improve national ownership
• Need to improve timetable of the European
Semester, dialogue between Commission and
Member States, higher involvement of relevant
stakeholders

TTIP
• 7 rounds of negotiations since July 2013
• Once implemented, possible benefits for EU
economy: growth of 0,5 % GDP (€120 billion; an
average household would gain €545) p.a.
• Removing trade barriers in wide range of
economic sectors
• Involves trade in goods and services, but also
investments and public procurement
• Regulatory issues, maintaining European standards
• Significant strategic and political effects

2030 Climate and Energy Package
• 2030 climate and energy goals → economy and
energy systems more sustainable, competitive
and secure
• Trio of targets
– GHG Emissions (EU level/binding/ 40 %)
– RES (EU level/binding/ at least 27 %)
– EE (EU level/indicative/ at least 27 %)
• Other issues: EU ETS reform, governance, energy
security, IEM…
• The Czech Republic welcomes the compromise
made

• Fourth target: 15 % interconnections
– Elimination of energy «black spots» and energy
islands
• Main topic at the following TTE
– Completion of functioning and interconnected EU
Energy Market
– Harmonization of regulatory framework; sharing the
information
We are well underway, but the work is not done yet.

Industrial Competitiveness
• Industrial Competitiveness means above all
coherence of EU policies
• Mainstreaming of the industrial competitiveness in
all policy areas
• Improving functioning of the Competitiveness
Council
• Effective strengthening of the High-Level Group for
Competitiveness
– establishment of HLG as a Working Group in its own
right
– stable chairmanship
– working programme
