What do we expect from someone
we consider to be a champion?
Essential Question:
How can you act like a CHAMP in different areas
of the building?

“Being A Champion means you’re willing to go LONGER, work HARDER,
and give MORE than anyone else”
– Vince Lombardi
Who is your champion?
• This could be an athlete, musician, politician,
or even someone in your family…
• What kinds of behaviors, habits, or other traits
did they need in order to be successful?
What does it take
to be a champion at school?
Take a few minutes to consider the following definitions…
–
–
–
–
–
Character: Maintaining a good reputation through moral and ethical behavior.
Honor: Honesty, fairness, and integrity in beliefs and actions.
Attitude: A feeling or way of thinking that affects a person’s behavior.
Mindfulness: Attentive, aware, and careful.
Preparedness: Being ready for a particular situation.
What would a champion do?
• Think about what each of these core CHAMP values would look in
different areas of the building.
– Example: In the bathroom…
• Honor means leaving the bathroom in a cleaner condition
than you found it.
• Mindfulness means opening all doors with care, washing
hands when finished, and being tidy and cleaning up (trash
in the trashcan).
• Preparedness means having a pass before leaving for the
bathroom.
Now…
Break into groups and take a few minutes to list some examples in the blank
matrix
CHAMP Behavior Matrix
We will be using this Matrix as a guide to what the
expectations should look like in our school
community.

Was your list of what a champion would do the same
or different than what is listed on our CHAMP
Behavior Matrix?
