guide the way you live.
The main components of character are:
 Understanding the difference between
right and wrong and

doing what is right.
 Accepting and living by moral
principles.
 Demonstrating responsible behavior.

help you develop character?

You learn from the consequences of
your choices which ones lead to
positive outcomes and which ones do
not.
2. Why are values said to be the
foundation upon which character is
built?

They tell you what is important and
guide your actions and decisions.
3. How will your values help you if
you have to deal with negative
peer pressure?

They will tell you what is right and help
you resist the pressure.
4. What is the relationship between
personal standards and values?

Personal standards are based on and
reflect values.
5. Why is it advisable to think ahead
about difficult situations that you
might encounter?

So that you can figure out how you
might respond to the situation.

people show that they have
character?
More strength and integrity.



Mentors act as teachers and guides to

help societies function?

They guide people and help them live
together in society.

acquiring values directly and
acquiring them indirectly?
Directly: Being taught by someone.
 Indirectly: Through observing others.

12. How might your conscience help
you act according to your
values?

Your conscience tells you what is
morally right and warns you when
you’re about to do something wrong.
13. What is the purpose of a
personal standard? Give an
example.
It guides behavior by defining what to
do and not to do.
 Examples: Standards to help in making
decisions, what to do, what not to do,
etc.

14. How does being proactive help
you deal with difficult
situations?

When you’re proactive, you plan ahead
for difficult situations so you can be
prepared to handle them.
15. Define ethics. How are
ethical choices made?
Principles and values that guide the
way a person lives.
 By making the right choice based on
values, standards, and what is best for
people involved.

