Certification for Civil Engineers?
Licensed civil engineers with advanced professional and
technical expertise in geotechnical engineering
Similar to board certification in other professions (e.g.,
medical, legal, accounting)
Demonstrates attainment of advanced body of
knowledge and commitment to life-long learning
Enhances the profession for the benefit of the
next generation of engineering leaders

Requirements for D.GE Certification
Achieve Body of Knowledge required for Diplomate status
B.S. + M.S. or 30 hours of specialty graduate courses
P.E. License
8 years post-P.E. progressive
experience in specialty
Active in geotechnical engineering
Be of good moral character and high ethical standing
Complete application with references
Competency assessed by panel of peers
including oral examination (may be waived)
