Facts
Serbia is located in the central part of the Balkan
peninsula, in the West European time zone.
It is a developing country, and its main economic
activity is farming.
The alphabet in official use is Cyrillic, while Latin
script is also used.

It’s big and it spreads on 64 000 hectares.

It is important because it is an endowment of King
Stefan the First Crowned, built between 1208 and
1220.

Sarma Recipe
Here is a sarma recipe. It is a dish made of
sour cabbage and minced meat.
Ingredients
1 large head cabbage
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 lb. ground pork
1/2 lb. ground ham
1 c. cooked rice
2 eggs
1 c. chopped onion
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. garlic salt Water to cover
2 lb. bag or large jar sauerkraut, with
juice

Sarma Recipe
Sauté bacon and onion until bacon is done. Beat eggs and add
salt, pepper, paprika, ground beef, pork and ham. Add bacon
mixture and rice and mix thoroughly. Separate sour cabbage
leaves and drain.
Place heaping tablespoon of stuffing at core end of each
cabbage leaf and roll carefully, tucking in ends. Place rolls in
layers in a big pot. Chop small unused leaves and place on top.
Add enough water to cover rolls.
Cover and simmer 2 to 2-1/2 hours.
