Came to U.S. in 1986
Brought to Texas accidentally from Mexico
Can now be found in many western states
(California, Colorado, Nevada, etc.)

• The Aphid injects a toxin into the plant
while feeding and causes damage
• The leaves then get white
longitudinal streaks
• The leaf then curls up

 Winged (alate)- when the plant dies
several nymphs grow wings
 They seek a new host plant
 Dark green thorax
 Wingless (apterous)- produce many
children
 Normal green thorax
