Description:
The Arecaceae are woody shrubs, vines, or trees comprising about 200 genera and 3,000 species.
characterized by having large or very large leaves, a tall, unbranched stem or by a dichotomous branching
stem. A feature specific to this family is that the stem reaches its growth in diameter before it starts its
growth in height. Palms have no secondary growth.
Monocot:
This plant is found in equatorial tropical
and subtropical areas. The diveristy is
highest in wet lowland tropical forests.

A large amount of food items come from the coconut palm. ,
fats, oil, wine, and coconut milk are extracted from the drupe,
known as coconut
Several species are, on the other hand, employed in the
production of vegetable fibres. Thatch is a common use, and
vegitable ivory as well as car polish.
