Animal
Habitat ABCs
By Amy, Josh,
Keisha, and Ahmad
A
A
ntelopes live in grassy lands where their
color blends in. They eat the grasses, too.
What other animals live in grass lands?
B
Bees live where there
is lots of nectar so
they can make
honey. Their colors
blend in with the
flowers so they are
safe from birds and
other predators.
Are bees prey or
predators?
C
Caterpillars live on plants
where their coloring
matches. They build
cocoons there so they
can change to
butterflies. What
other animals change
into something else?
D
Dog habitats are with
people. They need
people to feed them.
Some wild dogs live
where they can catch
things to eat. What
would they eat?
E
Eagles live where they can find fish and small
animals to eat. They can fly very far, so their
home is a very big area near water. They build
their nests in trees and come back to the same
place every year. What other animals return to
the same place?
F
Forests are a habitat for many
animals, especially squirrels.
Squirrels eat the acorns
from the trees and make
nests in the trees of the
forest. Could a squirrel live
without trees?
G
Grasshoppers live in green grassy places. They eat
the grass and leaves and hide in it because they
are the same color. They can hop from leaf to
leaf. What predator eats grasshoppers?
H
Home is where
the food is.
Animal habitats
have the food
they need, like
the dark places
where spiders
build their webs
so insects do
not see them
and get stuck.
Why don’t
spiders get
stuck?
I
Ice is a very cold habitat, but some
animals live on and under ice:
seals, polar bears. Polar bears
need ice to get across water to
where they can find food. Can
they swim?

This is a shortened sample. In a real project, there
would be pages for the rest of the alphabet.
