Step 1
• Locate two wire basket forms…hanging
baskets for plants are perfect and are
available in various sizes.

Step 2
• Cut Styrofoam pieces to fit inside and fill
the basket forms. Oasis or other foam can
also be used.
*estimate about one sheet of Styrofoam per form.
*if using soaked oasis the form will be very heavy.

Step 3
Once filled, wire or tape the baskets together to
secure. Locate pins and moss (or anyother material
you choose) to cover the form.

Step 4
Begin placing and pinning
needed.

moss into place where

• Sheet moss works great here as it can be wrapped around the wire
basket and very little pinning is required.
• Large leaves would also be a fun
medium used to cover the wire form.
*One box of sheet moss will cover approximately 2 large
18” or 3 medium 12” forms.

• To add pops of fresh, trim stem to fit inside a
pointed end water tube.
If using Oasis…simply push the floral stems directly into form.

Step 7
• Push water tube into Styrofoam form.
Sometimes it is easiest to place the water
tube first, then add the fresh stem.

• Continue adding fresh until desired look and
fullness is achieved.

• 12” forms can easily hold anywhere from 15 to 20 stems of
Gerberas, Roses or other floral, while larger 18” forms can
hold 30 or more stems.

Good Stuff to Know ~
• Time estimation of one completed pomander is
anywhere from 30 minutes for fairly simple floral up
to one hour for more detailed designs.
• Cost of base materials is about $30 with retail cost
of floral ranging from $30 for 15 stems of
Gerberas on up.
• Floral will last in water tubes for approximately 5
hours for flowers such as hydrangea to well over 5
hours for roses and gerberas, and all day for most
Orchids
