Being able to explain……..
Local Habitat.
The relationship between animals and plants.
The main stage in a life cycle of a frog.
Weather in Asia compared to the weather in other continents.
How animals move from one place to another.
How animal’s behaviour changes due to seasonal change.
Some of the ways people conserve/affect the enviroment.
• There are many different species of
animals in the continent of Asia. Some of
them are Red Panda, Sloth Bear, Asian
Elephant, Red Crowned Crane, etc.
• You are probably wondering what these
animals are. So we will explain them in the
following slides.
•
•
Red Panda
Red Pandas live mostly
in the Himalaya
mountains and
southern Tibet China.
They are mammals.
• Giant Pandas
• They live in mountain
ranges in central
China. Their diet is
99% bamboo. They
are mammals.
Asian Elephant
They live in southern east Asia, plains and
zoos. They are the largest land mammal in
Asia. They are herbivores and eat plants.
Fishing Cat
They live in wetland,
swamps and
marshes. Their diet is
fish. They are
mammals.
Clouded Leopard
They live in Himalayan
foothills. They are
mammals.
Orang-utan & Asian Lion
• Orang-utan is a big orange monkey. They
live in rainforests over Asia. They eat bark
and young leaves as part of their diet.
• Asian lions live in Gir national park and
sanctuary in West Gujarat. They eat meat.
Life Cycle Of a Frog
2. Tadpole
1. Egg
3. Frog
• The weather in Asia
at the minute is…..
-41 C – 34 C. The
more southern places
are warmer than the
northern places.
• The weather in
Europe at the minute
is…..
-11 C – 17 C.
The more southern
places are warmer
just like Asia.
Moving
• When the weather gets so cold, the
animals in Asia move to warmer parts of
the continent. The birds will also migrate to
other countries maybe even different
continents. But not all animals move,
some have thick fur so they would be able
to survive the cold conditions. Others just
hibernate.
When the Winter arrives and the air
gets cold, many animals hibernate or
migrate to different countries or
continents. They will return again
when the weather picks up again. This
happens every year.
Conserving and Affecting the
Environment!
• We can conserve the
environment by
recycling, turning off
the lights, vegetable
patch, compost heap,
rain water collection,
electric cars, litter
picking and many
more.
• We affect the
environment by
littering, using fossil
fuels, leaving the light
on, pollution,
smoking, nuclear
power plants and
many more. We have
to save the
Environment and stop
doing these things
above!!
• We hope you enjoyed our power point
about the animals of Asia.
