You can also use frozen
fruit too. Frozen fruit is
picked at its best and in
season.
If you are intolerant of
cows milk you could use a
range of alternatives such
as goat or soya milk.
Try and avoid adding
ingredients high
in fat
and sugar to smoothies.
You may want to reflect,
whether it is best to buy
frozen fruit or fruit that is out
of season that has been
transported a long distance.
Smoothies can be a brilliant
snack or a breakfast
packed with vitamins and
minerals. You could add
slow realising energy
ingredients like porridge.

Possible further investigations
Investigate different
types of milks and yogurts available on the market.
Investigate innovative milk producers such as Calonwen, a co-operative of
farmers in south west Wales producing organic milks packaged using an innovative
eco pak. www.calonwen.com
The website is very informative about life on a farm, organic farming and other
produces they produce.
