 A hyperbole in an extreme exaggeration!
 Examples:
 I am so hungry I could eat a horse!
 I could sleep for a year, I’m so tired!
 On a sheet of paper, come up with two of your own
hyperboles to share with the class tomorrow.
 A simile compares two UNLIKE things using like or
as.
 Examples:
 She is as sweet as cotton candy.
 He is as strong as an ox.
 The snow was like a blanket.
 On your homework paper, come up with two of your
own similes to share with the class tomorrow.
 A metaphor compares two UNLIKE things WITHOUT
using like or as!
 Examples:
 He has a heart of stone.
 He is the shinning star of our school.
 Time is money.

 An onomatopoeia is a sound word!
 Examples:
 Bang
 Pop
 Zip
 Pow

 Alliteration is when words all start with the same
beginning sound (basically the opposite of rhyme.)
 Examples:
 She sells sea shells by the sea shore.
 Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
