Tú commands
(mandatos/imperativos informales)
When we want to tell someone (a friend or other
person you would address with tú) to do
something,
you use a command in the affirmative way
(yes, do [it]).
Regular affirmative tú commands like write, eat,
and prepare are formed by:
Taking the 3rd person singular form of the
present tense (él, ella, usted)
Ex: Escribir =
_escribe___
Comer = ___come_
Preparar = ___prepara___
Regular affirmative tú commands with DOPs like
write, eat, and prepare are formed by:
Taking the
_tú command__
and adding the
__DOP (lo, la, los, las)____
Then you put an _accent__ on the 3rd to last syllable.
Write it (the letter)
_Escríbela___
Eat it (the cake)
__Cómelo___
Prepare it (the meal)
__Prepárala___
Attach with Positive! Remember, form
Command, People first (IOP) then DOP.
Accent 4th to last!
Use it (the sunscreen)
__úsala___
Carry it (llevar, the cooler)
___Llévala__
Eat it (the fish)
_Cómelo__

commands:

Negative Tú commands
(No! Don’t do it!)
When you want to tell someone NOT to do
something, use a negative command.
Negative tú commands are formed by taking
the _yo_ form of the present tense, dropping
the __o__, and adding the opposite “tú” ending.
If you start with an –AR verb, use the –ER/-IR
verb ending for “tú.”
HABLAR -> Hablo -> Habl -> Hables.
Final = _No hables__= don’t talk.
If you start with an –ER or –IR verb, take the AR
verb ending for “tú.”
ESCRIBIR-> Escribo -> Escrib -> escribas
Final = _No escribas_ = don’t write.
If the yo form is irregular, the same rule applies.
Tener -> tengo -> teng -> Tengas.
Final = ___No tengas miedo_ =don’t be scared.
Negative tú commands with DOPs and IOPs

People first,
then DOP,
then command.
