Preterite tense
• In Spanish, there are two past tenses.
• One is called the preterite tense and the other is
called the imperfect tense.
• We are focusing on the preterite tense of one
verb only  ir.
• Remember that ir means to go in the present
tense.
• In the preterite (past) tense, it means WENT.
– As in: I went to the store.
– Instead of: I go to the store.
Before we continue, let’s conjugate ir in the preterite tense.
The conjugations are different. Remember, that verbs
conjugate differently in each tense.
