Rules for teams:
•Poor sportsmanship will result in loss of points.
(shouting out answers, getting upset at other students, etc.)
•The class will be divided into 3 teams.
•Each team will have one person designated to buzz in for
the team.
•If the “buzzing” person grabs before the question is read
orally, the other team gets to answer instead.
Rules for answering questions:
•The first team to buzz in will answer the question.
•After buzzing in, a team is allowed 5 seconds to respond
before losing points and allowing the next team to answer.

Digestive
System
Accessory
Organs
100
The place where
digestion begins.
What is the
mouth?
This connects the mouth and
the stomach.
What is the
esophagus?
Undigested
material passes
through here.
What is the large
intestine?
Covered with
nutrient-absorbing
cells.
What are villi?
These muscle
contractions move
food down the
esophagus.
What is Peristalsis?
These three organs
contribute enzymes and
chemicals to the small
intestine.
What are the liver,
pancreas and gallbladder?
Bile is produced here.
What is the liver?
Bile is stored here.
What is the
gallbladder?
Detoxifies toxic substances
in the body.
What is the liver?
Secretes a bicarbonate
to neutralize the HCl
before entering the
small intestine.
What is the pancreas?
The teeth are the first step in
this type of digestion.
What is mechanical
digestion?
Chemical digestion in the
mouth results from
enzymes in this liquid.
What is saliva?
This strong acid works with
enzymes in the stomach to
digest food.
What is Hydrochloric
Acid (HCl)?
Only chemical digestion
takes place here.
What is the small
intestine?
This green colored
liquid aids in the
digestion of fat.
What is bile?
All organic compounds
contain this.
What is Carbon?
All living things
contain carbon,
therefore all living
things are considered
to be this.
What is organic?
Rust (Fe2O3) and Salt
(NaCl) do not contain
Carbon (C), therefore
they are considered to be
this.
What is inorganic?
Carbohydrates and fats
from the food we eat
gives our bodies this.
What is energy?
Name Organs 1, 5, 7, & 9
1-Salivary Gland, 5Esophagus, 7-Pancreas,
9- Lg. Intestine
This organelle is considered
the “digestive system” of a
cell.
What are lysosomes?
The process of breaking
down carbohydrates
into simple sugars
begins here.
What is the mouth?
The squooshing of food
in the stomach is this
type of digestion.
What is mechanical
digestion?
This is absorbed in the
large intestine to help
move along undigested
materials.
What is water?
Located in the small intestine
and surrounded by capillaries,
these are the link between the
digestive system and the blood
system.
What are villi?
