• Predator- the organism that eats the prey.

• Whether they are big or small, animals
and plants have certain adaptations to
help them survive in their environment.
• What are adaptations?
• Any characteristic (or trait) that helps a
plant or animal survive or get use to their
environment.
Predator Adaptations
(pg. 60)
• Adaptation- a characteristic that helps an
organism survive and reproduce in its
environment.
• Predators must have adaptations to be
able to catch their prey.
• Examples:
Cheetah- runs at high speed
Goldenrod Spider- color
Prey Adaptation (pg. 60)
• Prey have methods and abilities to keep
from being eaten.
Examples:
Fire Salamander- spray poison
Buffaloes- stay in herds
Jack Rabbit- large ears
