Canadian Lynx

What causes species to become
endangered?
•Deforestation or other habitat loss, other
human activity, pollution, competition from
other species, various diseases and
Overexploitation
What would happen if a species
were to go extinct?
• The ecosystem that the species lives in
would not be able to maintain balance and
be destroyed
• Various plants and animals are used for
medicines, so if the plants and animals go
extinct less people will have medicine
Habitat
From
Northern
US to
Canada
Diet
• Lynxes‘ are carnivores
• They eat mostly Snowshoe
hare, and also eat rodents
birds and fish
How to save them
• “Spread the word” about endangered
species
• Change a habit, such as eating less meat
• Build a bird house
• Recycle, Reduce and Reuse
• Write a letter to a newspaper editor
• Write a letter to the Senate and/or the
House of Representatives
Our plan
•We have written a letter to the Statesman Journal Newspaper Editor, we
also have a blog and a website to tell everybody about endangered
species
I am writing this on behalf of the Canadian Lynx and all other endangered
species. To help the endangered species were planning to not buy items made of fur or
any animal parts. We are also going to advertise our project by using a website, blog,
and the internet (such as: emails, Facebook, and Twitter). We hope by being able to tell
many other people that we can make an impact. Right now many species, various plants
and animals, are endangered. The reason that they’re going extinct is mostly our fault.
We often cut down forests, chasing many animals away from their habitat. Also we start
expanding our communities which takes many other animal and plant habitats. Many of
these plants and animals are used for many purposes. If we can keep the species from
going extinct, that would help people tremendously. We now need to help them, because
it’s our fault.
I believe if we started this problem, we should be the ones to fix it. My
friend and I have written this letter to you hoping that you would listen to us, and
help us tell others that this problem is getting serious and it needs to be fixed.
Sincerely,
Elaina and Kennedy,
