Mouth
The mouth is used to drink and eat foods it also
has two lips that can be used to talk and breath.
Esophagus
The esophagus is commonly known as the
‘gullet’.
Stomach
The stomach is located between the Esophagus
and the Small Intestine.
Large Intestine
The Large Intestine is nearly about 4.9 feet long
[1.5m] long.
Small Intestine
The average length of the Small Intestine in a
human male is 6.9 m [22 feet 6 inches].
Liver
The Liver sits on the right side of the Stomach.
Appendix
A tube-shaped sac that is attached to and the
opening of the lower end of the Large Intestine.
Pancreas
The Pancreas is a glandular organ in our
digestive system.
Gall bladder
The Gall Bladder is a hollow system that just sits
beneath our liver.
Enzymes
Like all proteins, Enzymes are very long,chains
of amino acids fold to produce a threedimensional product.
Bile/Bile Duct
A bile duct is a number of long tube-like
structures that carry bile.
Mucus
Mucus is a slippery secretion that is produced
by,covering mucous membranes.
Chemical Digestion
Digestion is the chemical and the mechanical
breakdown of food into smaller components
which are more easily absorbed.
Absorption
absorption are particles of gas,liquid in liquid or
solid material.
When food enters the mouth, its digestion starts
by the action of mastication,which is a form of
mechanical digestion
Salivary Amylase
Amylase is an enzyme that catalyzes the
hydrolysis starch into simpler compounds.
Villi
The Villi increases the internal surface area of
the intestinal walls.
Gastric Juices
The colorless, watery, acidic,digestive fluid that
is secreted by various glands in the mucous
membrane of our stomach.
Duodenum
The duodenum is the first section of the small
intestine in most higher vertebrates.
Chryme
Chyme slowly passes through the pyloric
sphincter and goes into our duodenum.
