The Science of
Football

Introduction to Science of
Football
• One reason I chose
this sport was
because it uses both
Kinetic & Potential
energies. The second
reason I picked this
sport was because
its my favorite
sport…
Potential Energy
• Potential energy is
when you have the
power to control
what you do before
you do it. Like in
football when they
are about to snap
the ball they have
the control to throw
it or run it…
Kinetic Energy
• Kinetic energy is
when you already
made the move and
cant take it
back.Like in football
when they are
running the ball you
cant just give it back
you have to
automatically run…
Digestive System
• The digestive system
digest food to give
the body energy to
play or to do
anything…as in
football if you are
exhausted then you
wont have the
energy to play at
all…
Respiratory System
• The respiratory
system helps you
breathe better with
clear air and
removes the carbon
dioxide…Like in
football if you cant
breathe correctly
then you cant play
as good as you can…
Circulatory System
• The circulatory
system helps the
heart pump blood
into the body…In
football if your
heart isn’t good
then you probably
get tired quick
and wont play as
much
Excretory System
• The Excretory
system helps the
body drop water out
their bodies and help
keep the system
running…In football
the players need to
sweat and cool off
there bodies with the
excretory system
Muscular System
• The muscular
system helps the
body move…In
football you need
strong muscles to
throw the ball
far….
Electric Energy
• Electric Energy is
electric charge in
close circuits…In
football electric
energy is use for
scoreboards to
keep track of who
is winning
Energy Transformation
• It affects their
body by giving
them the strength
to play better. It
can change to
heat energy by
when running
they start to
sweat to keep the
blood flowing…
Conserving Energy
• A reasons for
football players
conserve energy…
• 1) To have more
energy to play
later on in the
game…
Newton’s 1st Law of
Motion
• The first law is an
object will stay at
rest or continue at a
constant velocity
unless acted upon by
a n external
unbalanced force. It
supports it in football
with the force of
tackling…
Newton’s 2nd Law of
Motion
• Newton’s second law
of motion is The
second law states that
the acceleration of an
object is dependent
upon two variables - the
net force acting upon
the object and the mass
of the object.
Newton’s 3rd Law of
Motion
• The 3rd law is
whatever has a
action will have a
reaction…This
could probably
help with
turnovers I
guess…
Machines
• One simple machine
is the scoreboard… it
could help the
players keep track of
the score that they
have…A second
machine is the bikes
in the gym that
makes them burn
their calories
Conclusion
• Science and Football
rela te in many ways
as in the use of force
when tackling…the
body that they use
to move around and
play…and the energy
they use to keep in
shape…
