More than 90% of the country is covered by
the Saharan Desert (mostly in the south).
In the north are the Tell Atlas and the Saharan
Atlas mountain ranges.
In the south are the Ahaggar Mountains.
The area from the northern coast to the Tell
Atlas region is very fertile and good for
agriculture.
It has a desert climate – very hot during the
day but chilly at night.
There is plenty of rain in the coastal area of the
Tell Atlas but inland is dry and desert like.
