Principle of Universality
 Regional universality: material from and about all
countries and regions of the world, in the relevant languages
for research purposes
 Subject universality: publications from all subjects areas
 Temporal universality: sources from all periods and times
 Universality of media and form: material in all the
important forms such as manuscripts, printed works,
microfilms, electronic and online publications
 Research library and cultural archive for future
generations

manuscripts and woodblock prints
 Access through own Unicode-databases and special interlibrary loan service

 Better and user friendly access to CJK e-resources
 Working platform / space for registered individual users and
national and international research groups
 Communication platform for research groups
Need:
 New IT model for providing access to e-resources (software
streaming)
 New authentication system (based on Shibboleth)
 Space management (WebDAV)

 Integration of classic services into the virtual platform
(like ILL-services)
 Access to content (also to content which subject to license
and access to own and other digitised collections)

infrastructure incl. Authentication and access control)
