What is needed for the next
ITU-T generation of photonic networks
to become a reality
o Significant effort needed to lower the cost
and enable OAM functions of optical
components
o Better understanding of traffic and
performance issues needed to evaluate cost
and reliability in current proposals.

o Gain consensus on administrative concepts
and standards.
