What is IPTV?
IPTV is a system through which digital television service is
delivered using the Internet architecture and networking
methods, instead of delivered through traditional radio
frequency broadcast, satellite signal, and cable television
formats
IPTV and Internet TV
IPTV delivered to TV set, not PC
IP set-top box (STB)
IPTV is provided by a few LARGE telecom providers
Internet TV: anyone can create an endpoint and publish that on a global

Why is IPTV?
Network infrastructure today has become highly evolved and is
required to support converged IP applications such as video,
voice and data (triple play)
IPTV will provide better quality of service than Internet
streaming video
IPTV has the potential to offer an interactive, customized
experience
