HP OpenView Network Node Manager
• HP OpenView Network Node Manager (NNM) is a network
management solution platform for discovery, monitoring, and
management of TCP/IP networks.
• NNM’s SNMP-based management capabilities provide an enhanced
solution for managing network and system devices using SNMP in
TCP/IP network environments.
• NNM provides fault, performance and configuration management for
multivendor TCP/IP networks for a site, campus, or enterprise.

HP OV NNM Event Generation
• NNM processes and SNMP agents continuously watch
for certain incidents to occur
• When an incident occurs, an event is generated
• Events are categorized based on the alarm type
– Alarm types are user definable
• Events are displayed with color coded severity
– Severity and color codes are user definable
• Event trap configuration
– Pre-defined
– User-defined generic traps
– User-defined specific traps

Auto Generation of Trouble Tickets
• HP OpenView
– Allow the administrator to identify “Critical nodes”
– Will generate a trouble ticket request automatically
when it receives a node-down event for a critical node
• Remedy receives the HP OV ticket request
– Will generate a ticket if there is not already an open
ticket for the critical node - Help Desk Group is
notified
– Will increment a counter on the ticket if there is
already an open ticket - Help Desk Group is notified
about the increment
