

house hold.

What happened to Roman education after
age 12?

Until age 12 boys and girls went to
school together. Then the sons of the
poor went to work and the son of the rich
began their formal education.

Girls received a different type of
education. When they were 12 their
formal education stopped. The daughters
of the rich were given private lessons.
