Increased federal funding for FY2016
diabetes research and prevention
programs:
• Added $68 million for diabetes research at the
National Institute of Health’s National
Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney
Diseases (NIDDK)
• Added $30 million at the Center for Disease
Control’s Division of Diabetes Translation
• Doubled the budget for the National Diabetes
Prevention Program to $20 million for FY2016

with diabetes and prediabetes.
• Advocate for improved delivery of care through
system reforms that lead to high quality,
affordable, effective, efficient, and collaborative
care for people with diabetes.

focusing on employment.
Health Disparities
• Specific initiatives to reduce the disparate impact
of diabetes in minority communities.
